Diabetes
Diabetes or diabetic mellitus, is a metabolic disease that causes high blood sugar. This disease is caused mainly by overeating, obesity and depression. Excess eating affects the pancreas which affects the stimulation of insulin hormone imbalance. Lack of insulin cannot convert glucose into glycogen and that cause increase of glucose in blood and that excrete through urine. It makes a person physically weak and causes damage to vision. There are high risk of renal failure or heart disease. People have neglected physical exercise or walk in lifestyle which is one of the main reason for diabetes.
Diabetes is of 2 types:
1. Type I diabetes
2. Type II diabetes
Type I diabetes
Type 1 diabetes, also known as juvenile diabetes or insulin-dependent diabetes. In this condition, the pancreas makes little or no insulin. Insulin is a hormone, the body uses to allow sugar (glucose) to enter cells to produce energy.
Type II diabetes
In Type II diabetes, pancreas could not provide enough insulin to the body. Most people are affected by type II diabetes rather than type I.
Symptoms of Diabetes
• Excessive hunger and thrist.
• Body weight does not increase.
• Person tends to get fatigue.
• Constipation
Role of yoga in prevention and management of Diabetes
1) Bhujangasana: Bhujang means snake. In this position, body resembles the shape of hooded snake. This is called as cobra pose. It is very helpful in curing back pain and Diabetes. Bhujangasana is also good for your heart and lungs. It is also beneficial for your reproductive health.
Benefits of Bhujangasana
1) It increases blood circulation which increases efficiency.
2) It cures neck and back pain.
3) It makes muscle and bones flexible.
4) It can cure your diabetes.
2) Paschimottansana: It is a posture in which we bend forward. But extending the top half of the body over the seated lower half helps stretch the entire back of you body to enhance your physical flexibility. Folding inward in this way also brings mental calm.
Benefits of Paschimottansana
1) It makes leg strong.
2) It keeps mind at peace.
3) It helps in Diabetes.
4) It stretches your leg muscles.
3) Pavanmuktasan: It is also known as gas released pose. This asana cure constipation and clear out gad from abdominal. It provides strength to heart and increase activity of lungs. It also cures cough and asthama. Pawanmuktasana helps reduce binge eating, improves mental health, regulates bowel movements and assists in weight loss.
Benefits of Pavanmuktasan
1) Acid gas are released.
2) It improves blood circulation.
3) It is helpful for diabetic people.
4) It cures constipation and acidity.

Prevention from Diabetes through changing lifestyle
i) Regular exercise: If the person does exercise regularly then it not only prevents diabetes but is also helpful in management of this disease also. Regular exercise keep sugar level under control and increases insulin.
ii) Diet related precautions: Change in food habits can prevents diabetes like.
• Avoid fatty food specially saturated fat because it's intake cause obesity which leads to diabetes.
• Have less intake of carbohydrate in meals.
• Have more green vegetables and fruits in diet.
• Have small meals for 3-4 times in a day.
iii) Maintain a idle body weight: Diabetes causes weight loss. We need to make a balance between intake and burning of c kialories. If intake of calories is more, then aerobic exercise like cycling, swimming, jogging shall be done.
iv) Stay away from Stress and Depression: Being in stress causes high level of sugar in blood which causes diabetes.
