Asthma

It is a chronic disease involving blocking airways in lungs. These airways allow air to come in and out of lungs. In asthma the airways are always inflamed. These swollen airways become very sensitive. Muscles around airways can tighten when something triggered your symptoms. This causes less of  oxygen in lungs. Symptoms like coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath, tightening of chest occurs on set of that. It is a major problem which cannot be cured completely but can controlled. Allergy, smoke, spray, perfume and flavoured soap can triggered asthma which causes cough, sinus. If one need to prevent Asthma, then he/she has to practice Sukhasana, Chakrasana, Gomukhasana, Bhujangasana etc.

Symptoms of Asthma

Coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath, tightening of chest, fatigue, pain in shoulder and legs are main symptoms.

Causes of Asthma

Heredity, allergy from any substance, smoke, spray, perfume, occupational triggers, cold wheather.

Preventive Asanas for Asthma

1) Sukhasana: Sukh means delight.This asana is a relaxing posture which provides mental peace. That's why it is known as Sukhasana. One can perform this asana in comfortable and easy way. Sukhasana is very easy pose. It is a simple cross-legged sitting asana in hatha yoga, sometimes used for meditation in both Buddhism and Hinduism.

Benefits of Sukhasana

a) It provides mental peace and relaxation.

b) It increases structurability of spine.

c) It corrects sitting posture.

d) It helps in Asthma.

2) Chakrasana: Chakra means wheel and in this posture body shape resembles with wheel. It is called wheel pose. It is best suitable for making spine flexible and strong. This yoga pose stretches the muscles in your chest, shoulders, hamstrings, spinal extensors, and hip flexors.

Benefits of Chakrasana

a) It improves blood circulation.

b) It makes spine flexible.

c) It is a preventive asana for asthma.

d) It provides relief in kidney pain.

3) Gomukhasana: 'Go' means cow and mukh means face. In this asana, the pose of our legs look like face of cow. In this asana, many organs are stretched at single movement, like- knee, thigh, hip, chest, neck, leg and feet. This asana is therapeutic and can help release tension from the shoulders and hips.

Benefits of Gomukhasana

a) It increases concentration and includes inner peace.

b) It helps in reducing weight.

c) It helps in curing asthma.

d) It helpful in arthritis.

4) Parvatasana: The word Parvatasana is derived from two words, first one is Parvat which means mountains and second is asana that means pose. Parvatasana is a cultural Asana–for the lateral (upward) stretching of the spine. Practiced for thousands of years, this Mountain Pose is one of the simplest and most effective of all yoga asanas.

Benefits of Pavanmuktasan

a) It reduces fat around waist.

b) It is helpful in asthma.

c) Legs and knees become strong.

d) It reduces back pain.

5) Bhujangasana:

7) Matsyasana: Matsyasana or Fish pose is a reclining back-bending asana in hatha yoga and modern yoga as exercise. It is commonly considered a counterasana to Sarvangasana, or shoulder stand, specifically within the context of the Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga Primary Series. It is beneficial for waist and throat related problems. 

Benefits of Matsyasana

a) It reduces the risk of skin disease.

b) It is helpful in management of Asthma. 

c) It helps to reduce fat around abdomen. 

d) It controls thyroid and parathyroid hormone.

Other Precautions for Asthma

1. Formulate and follow a plan: Asthma patient shall consult doctor and shall follow the strict regime prescribed. Asthma patient should have check up regularly.

2. Check-up Breathing: Initial symptoms like light cough, higher breathing consent shall be checked through peek flow meter so that it can be controlled at time.

3. Take prescribed medications only: Asthma patient shall take only prescribed medications. To control asthma, people shall not take medicine willingly.

4. Plan for emergency situation: Asthma patients shall know that if any situation gets out of control, then how and people along with them nearby tackle that situation. 

5. Proper Vaccination: Timely vaccination for power influenza and nuemonia can control asthma symptoms.

6. Avoid Triggers: To prevent and management, the best way out is to be away from all the possible triggers, like air pollution, cold weather, flu, virus, smoke etc.
